The brake system is a key safety component used to slow down or stop vehicles such as cars and motorcycles. The following are the main components of a general brake system:
1. Brake pedal (foot brake): The driver sends a brake signal to the brake system by operating the brake pedal.
2. Master brake cylinder/master cylinder: Receives hydraulic signals from the brake pedal and transmits hydraulic pressure to the brake cylinder of the wheel.
3. Brake fluid: A special hydraulic oil used to transmit pressure in the brake system.
4. Brake line: Pipes and hoses connecting various brake components are used to transmit brake fluid.
5. Brake pad/brake pad: The friction material installed on the rotor hub (wheel drum) contacts the brake disc (disc) to generate friction to achieve deceleration or parking.
6. Brake disc/brake disc: A metal disc fixed to the wheel hub that contacts the brake pad and bears friction.
7. Brake pad wear limiter: When the brake pad is worn to a certain extent, the limiter will trigger a warning light or sound alarm to remind the driver to replace the brake pad.
8. Brake cylinder/wheel cylinder: A device that transmits hydraulic pressure to the wheel brake pads. Usually there is one brake cylinder for each wheel.
9. Brake pad wear indicator: When the brake pads are worn to a certain extent, the indicator will trigger a warning light or sound alarm to remind the driver to replace the brake pads.
10. Brake system sensor: Monitors the working status of the brake system, such as brake pressure, temperature, etc., and displays or issues an alarm to the dashboard.
