Types of Motorcycle Brake Disc
Disc Brake
The disc is the surface against which the brake pads act to slow the motorcycle down. When the brake is applied, a hydraulic pump is activated and sends brake fluid toward the calipers. The fluid pressure causes the pistons to push the pads, creating friction against the brake disc and progressively decelerating the bike. This deceleration generates heat, which is dispersed through the disc.

Drum Brake
Generally, these types of brakes are only used on low-displacement motorcycles. When the brake is applied, the brake shoe expands and comes into contact with the brake drum, while the springs keep the shoes in position. Finally, the adjusting lever helps tighten the shoes to brake as efficiently as possible.
CBS Brakes
The CBS system stands for Combined Braking System. This braking system ensures that when the rear brake is applied, the front brake is automatically activated as well, providing a more balanced stop and reducing braking distance by up to 50%.

Maintenance Tips for Motorcycle Brake Disc
Check Brake Pad Wear Regularly
Replace pads when they reach 2mm thickness or show uneven wear patterns.
01
Inspect Brake Calipers And Pistons
Look for fluid leaks, sticky movement, or corrosion that could compromise braking performance.
02
Monitor Brake Fluid Levels And Condition
Brake fluid should be clear or slightly yellow. Dark fluid indicates contamination and needs replacement.
03
Bleed The Brake System
Remove air bubbles from the hydraulic system every 2 years or when the brake lever feels spongy.
04
Clean Disc Brakes Properly
Use only brake-specific cleaner and avoid contaminating the disc with oils or lubricants.
