In a motorcycle engine, the piston ring is a vital component. Although its role is very subtle, a little carelessness may affect the performance of the entire engine.

Therefore, special attention should be paid when installing the piston ring to ensure the normal operation of the engine and give full play to the role of the piston ring.

1. Preparation before installing the piston ring:

(1) Carefully read the installation and use instructions to ensure that you understand the installation steps and precautions.

(2) Check whether the cylinder and piston are intact and whether the gap between the piston and the cylinder is appropriate.

(3) Check the accuracy of related components such as the piston, cylinder liner, and piston ring to ensure that they meet the installation requirements.

(4) Check the model, specification, and gap between the piston ring and the cylinder to ensure that the correct piston ring is selected.

(5) Clean the piston, cylinder liner, and piston ring to ensure that the surface is clean and free of impurities.

(6) Apply an appropriate amount of lubricating oil to the surface of the piston ring and the ring groove to make the installation smoother.

(7) Note: Do not install chrome-plated piston rings on chrome-plated cylinder liners.

2. Piston ring installation steps:

(1) Install the oil ring first and then the gas ring from bottom to top.

(2) When installing each ring, avoid stretching the piston ring opening too much, and keep it just enough to fit into the piston.

(3) When installing the combined oil ring, ensure that the liner ring openings do not overlap, and the upper and lower steel plate openings and liner ring joints are staggered 90~120 degrees. After installation, it should be smooth and free of sticking.

(4) When installing the gas ring, use special tools to install it in sequence. The marked side should face up, the opening positions should be staggered 180 degrees, and should not be placed in the direction of the piston pin.

(5) Before assembling the piston ring into the cylinder, adjust the opening position of each ring.

3. Precautions for using piston rings:

(1) Adjust the ignition time and mixture ratio to meet the requirements.

(2) After installing the new ring, perform cold running-in as required.

(3) Avoid driving at high speed in low gear, and preheat the engine after starting at low temperature.

(4) Use the specified fuel and high-quality engine oil.

(5) Keep the engine well ventilated and have sufficient oil, water and air.

(6) For water-cooled engines, strictly control the water temperature.
